Training and Development

Afri Care Recruitment offers a unique approach to training through a mock work environment. Practice-Based Learning (PBL) immerses workers in real-life scenarios to enhance their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Through PBL training, social workers are placed within a simulated work environment that mirrors the complexities and challenges of their future roles. This hands-on approach allows them to engage directly with scenarios they are likely to encounter, such as case management, client interactions, and collaboration with local authorities and community resources.

Throughout the six-week period, workers are assigned various tasks that require them to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical situations. They will participate in mock interviews with clients, develop intervention plans, and navigate the bureaucratic processes of social services. Feedback and guidance from experienced professionals are integral to this process, providing workers with insights and improvements tailored to their performance. Recommendations are offered to the local authority for them to consider when allocating area of practice.

Furthermore, PBL training encourages workers to reflect on their experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for growth. By the end of the training, social workers are not only more confident and competent in their skills but also better equipped to handle the emotional and ethical dimensions of their profession.

What is Practice Based Learning?

Practice-Based Learning (PBL) is an educational approach that emphasises the importance of real-world experience and hands-on practice in the learning process. This method is rooted in the belief that employees trained in this method learn best when they engage directly with the material and apply their knowledge in a mock practical setting. PBL is commonly used in vocational and professional education, where mastering specific skills and competencies is crucial, therefore this becomes the foundation for their future practice.

We use Practice-Based Learning for integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Instead of relying solely on traditional classroom instruction, PBL encourages employees to actively participate in activities that mirror real-world tasks and challenges. The goal is to provide your future employees with opportunities to develop their skills, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking through direct application.

  • Experiential Learning: Students gain knowledge and skills by actively engaging in real-world tasks.
  • Reflection: Learners reflect on their experiences, evaluating what they have learned and how they can improve.
  • Mentorship: Experienced professionals guide students, providing feedback and support.
  • Collaboration: Students often work in teams, fostering communication and teamwork skills.

Practice-Based Learning offers numerous advantages that can enhance students’ educational experiences and prepare them for professional success.
